WATCHING BACK IN TIME WITHOUT TIME TRAVELLING
The speed of light is over 299 million metres per second. Speed of light is as well the fastest achievable speed in the universe or not really achievable in order to go at the speed of light you would have to have no mass or no materials that you are made of meaning in order to go at the speed of light you cannot exist physically but we can get very close to the speed of light. The light speed may seem like much but taking into consideration the interstellar distance it's not that impressive and does not match our human ambitions to reach other stars fast; sure light can in one second go around the earth 7.5 times but since light has its limits even when you are talking to a human 1 metre away you would see him 3.3 nanoseconds in the past or almost billionth of a second in the past. Everything you see around yourself is how it was not how it is now; you can never see anything in the universe as it is now but only in the past.
So let's start with familiar objects like our Sun☀️ as we see , it is 8 minutes in the past from earth because the light we light see from the Sun takes 8 minutes to reach the earth hence we see the Sun 8 minutes older since light speed is the limit of every speed in the Cosmos.
Now let's go a little further with stars🌟 let's say a star 2000 light years away means it would take 2000 years for light to reach to the earth and this star has an alien 👽 observer that would have to have a telescope 🔠likely over thousands of kilometres in diameter just to observe the earth and so they would now see the earth 2000 years in past but if they could pinpoint every human on earth well first we'll need a telescope 11 billion kilometres across comparable to the size of our Solar system. With this gigantic telescope the alien observers would be able to see ancient civilizations and wars that was going on 2000 years ago.
Now let's go even further on another galaxy the closest big galaxy to ours the Andromeda Galaxy which is 2.5 million light years away meaning we see it 2.5 million years in the past. The observers from Andromeda would see the descendants of humans with their stone tools.

Now let's push more into the space and go to the largest spiral galaxy found NGC 6872 it is five times the length of Milky way. The galaxy is 212 million light years away; so again suppose an alien observer points the telescope that can even see the animals on earth the length of the telescope would need to be over 132 light years across meaning from one side of the mirror of the telescope to other side it would take light 132 years to travel. So it sees earth but not today's continent but rather one continent Pangea since that was 200 million years ago but looking at Pangea alien observers would see dinosaurs and many organisms that are not here today. So we can continue going back in time even further as the farther the alien observer is from earth the further into the past it will see the earth.

So yeah Cosmic distance are a lot larger than they may seem but we should always work towards improving the speed of our spacecraft so we can explore this universe and understand it a bit better.
